I'm not ready for Grandma and Grandpa to go to Heaven

The last 6 months have been particularly trying for my family. If you didn't know and are reading this for the first time my Grandma Betty died on

Thanksgiving Day. I consider myself pretty lucky to have her for so long even though I thought it was going to be forever. As a kid you think your grandparents will live forever. They are your hope and your dream. They spoil you rotten and send you home to your parents. When mom and dad have told you no - you go to Grandma and Grandpa and get your way. It's simple.

Well, we had another funeral and visitation to go to this week and Drexel's to the age where we do take him. He has learned about life and death with the loss of his great grandma and he doesn't like it...as none of us do. As we were driving back from having chicken dinner last night my beloved 5 year-old says, "I don't want Grandma and Grandpa to go up there." I asked him where, and he replied, "Heaven." Oh boy here's another can of worms I'm not ready to deal with, but I assured him that Grandma and Grandpa would be around for a long time. They've got a lot of work to do here yet.
I think it's cute that he gets how life goes and asks questions. He does talk about Grandma Betty a lot and that he misses her. They were very close. The good news is that he has the ability to having a lot of memories with her.

Eggstravaganzantly Painting Eggs

Well last night was our first adventure this year painting eggs. It was great fun!! Drexel really had a good time and actually really got into this year and painting his eggs. We had some left over colors from years gone by that we used as well, but the thing that really busted my chops was the fact that when we opened the sparkle colors that were supposed to be used to pain the eggs with this neat sponge they were all dried out but one!! Looks like I'll be making a phone call to Paas. It really was frustrating. However I loved the vibrant colors we ended up with...just wish the sparkle paint worked since that's why i bought it!!

Kindergarten Registration

It's finally going to happen!! Drexel will be in Kindergarten next year. It's a little scary. I just read my friend Jill's blog about her son Max and all the fun things they have been doing and I'm so jealous of her from time to time as she is always so put together. I'm always so disorganized and cluttered. I'm striving to get better trust me but it's not happening as fast as I'd like it too and I believe that Drexel starting Kindergarten is going to help that. I'll have to be more organized for a child to go through school all day long instead of a few hours a day like now and also planning is going to be so important. What if I decided to have more children? Wow! This is nuts but I'm sure that my life is really going to change that first day he goes to school.

Let me digress somewhat. My life completely changed when I found out I was pregnant. Not necessarily in a good way at first. I was ashamed to be a single mother. I was not proud at all of what had happened. However, looking back I'm proud of the way it has all worked out. I could not have had a better child if I had tried. He's great and wonderful and certainly a joy to be around. So I'm adding another blog to my already crazy life to get him through school and life!
All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten.
