We lost our first lost tooth!!!

Drexel lost his first tooth tonight.  Grandma is the best tooth puller in the world.  She pulled the tooth with flair.  No pain!  He's very happy that she did it without any pain.  He didn't even know that she was doing it.  He's very happy with it and is not letting the tooth fairy come just tonight.  We'll see when he decides for that to happen.

When I grow up

Tonight we took the whole family to the Ansar Shrine Circus.  Grandpa's buddy is the Potentate and it's a good cause.  So...we go.  I am usually not home and don't get to go but that's ok this year I decided that I was going...and we went.  Also it was decided that we should take the kids with us.  Ironic that the Circus can and will make us all kids again and marvel in their magic.  I've always marveled at the skill and requirements of the circus.  I always thought maybe I'd run away and join it so I could work with the Barnum and Bailey Circus, but no such luck.  I alway was fascinated with Gunther Gaither Williams and thought for sure I'd marry into the tiger family.  Some of us have different dreams.  Such was the conversation I heard from the backseat on the way to the convention center.

The mouths of 6 year olds -

Jacob:  I'm going to join the United States Army
Drexel:  Me too
J:  It's just good to be in the Army
D:  Yup...sure is up until you get killed
J:  Then it's not so good.
D: Our mommies and daddies would be upset.
J: They would but everybody has to die.  I just don't think I'll join the Army
D:  I don't think so either, you know Tom and Ty are in the Army
J:  I just miss Tom so much I can't even talk about it.
D:  Look!! A flag!!
J & D:  (sining) Oh say can you see, to the Dawn's
J:  It's not to it's by!!
D:  Oh - Oh say can you see.....
J: You're just doing it all wrong.
J:  Are we to the Circus yet?
D:  I wanna slushie! and Cotton Candy
J:  Yeah!!!

Mom, Dad was late picking me up....

And so goes the life of single mom when my parents were both out of town.  Mom was in Indianapolis with her parents as my granddad had a doctor's appointment and they found more things wrong with him than they wanted to, but all should be ok.  He's a very strong many but well, his electrodes in his back aren't working right.  In the process they believe his arteries are enlarged or something and they want to work on that.

I digress, Drexel's dad was all lined up to pick him up, momma is having a fit with a proposal at work and the phone rings and I know the number and I panic.  It's the school.  Yup, there is no one there to pick up Drexel off the bus.  Great.  I look like Mom of the year again.  I finally got to his dad's to pick him up and he was cool and calm.  Dad and the bus driver exchanged cell phone numbers in the unfortunate event that he is late again.  However, I'm about ready for him to get his driver's license already.  :)

Parent Teacher Conferences

I had my first Kindergarten Parent Teacher Conference.  Ms. Meister told me that Drexel is very nurturing, he gives great hugs and is just doing everything he's supposed to at school.  She said he is comforting to the other students.  She told me of stories of him comforting upset children when they are crying but he's usually not the one crying.  We talked a lot about his demeanor and how great he is like that and very adaptive and aware of what's going on around him.  His social skills are great.  His academic skills are just where they need to be but he's all boy and tries to hurry and sometimes doesn't do his best because he's running out of time.  I think conferences were a success!

I voted for the elephant!

Drexel's school held a mock election yesterday and he was a little upset that he voted for John McCain.  I think he truly thought he was voting for the elephant.  I did have to explain to him that it's our duty to vote and for him to vote for who he thinks is absolutely right to be our Commander in Chief and will be the one that Tom and Ty take direct orders from (from the trickle down).  He then asked who I would be voting for and I told him that I would be voting for Barack Obama.  He wasn't impressed with me.  We had a big discussion that it was his right to vote for whomever he wanted to but if he was old enough I'd cancel his vote out and he'd cancel mine.  That's the beauty of the American way.

God Bless America and my choice for living here and being a proud mother and future wife to our nations military!

Our first loose tooth

And we did it just like mommy did hers...by planting his face on the hard floor.  It's just loose right now but I'm sure we'll wiggle it enough to have the tooth fairy show up and deposit some money.  I kept my old tooth pillow for him but haven't seen it in quite some time.  We might need to make a new one.  :)
