When people go to Heaven

"Mommy - I don't want Grandma and Grandpa to go to Heaven."

Wow - how do you respond to that to a sweet little innocent little boy? I hope I did the right thing by telling him that God says that fortunately there is a Heaven that he created for us to have Eternal Life. You can't just say that to a 5 year old and expect him to not ask more question or even for a minute understand what you're trying to tell him. So I assured him that we wer all going to die...someday. Yikes...that didn't go well either. "But Mommy I don't want you to die before me." I said Drexel - as unfortunate as it is, Mommies are supposed to die before their babies, that's how it should work. We all know that this isn't completely true for everyone and very unfortunate for those that don't get the luxury of having their children bury them...Yes I said luxury. I've never buried a child or had a miscarriage but I can only imagine the heartbreak and pain that go along with it. So in Mom's world it's much better to be able to have your children make those decisions for you instead of the other way around.

You see Drexel's Great Grandma Betty died on Thanksgiving Day. The last time he saw her was not 24 hours before her death and they were so close that he couldn't understand why the doctors didn't fix her. They fixed his daddy they should have been able to fix his Grandma Betty. Now every so often he'll come running in the room and say "Mommy - do you know which shoulder Grandma Betty is on today?" He's been taught that she is always with him wherever he goes and whatever he may do, his guardian angel.

What a lucky little boy he is.
