I digress, Drexel's dad was all lined up to pick him up, momma is having a fit with a proposal at work and the phone rings and I know the number and I panic. It's the school. Yup, there is no one there to pick up Drexel off the bus. Great. I look like Mom of the year again. I finally got to his dad's to pick him up and he was cool and calm. Dad and the bus driver exchanged cell phone numbers in the unfortunate event that he is late again. However, I'm about ready for him to get his driver's license already. :)

Mom, Dad was late picking me up....
And so goes the life of single mom when my parents were both out of town. Mom was in Indianapolis with her parents as my granddad had a doctor's appointment and they found more things wrong with him than they wanted to, but all should be ok. He's a very strong many but well, his electrodes in his back aren't working right. In the process they believe his arteries are enlarged or something and they want to work on that.

Parent Teacher Conferences
I had my first Kindergarten Parent Teacher Conference. Ms. Meister told me that Drexel is very nurturing, he gives great hugs and is just doing everything he's supposed to at school. She said he is comforting to the other students. She told me of stories of him comforting upset children when they are crying but he's usually not the one crying. We talked a lot about his demeanor and how great he is like that and very adaptive and aware of what's going on around him. His social skills are great. His academic skills are just where they need to be but he's all boy and tries to hurry and sometimes doesn't do his best because he's running out of time. I think conferences were a success!

I voted for the elephant!
Drexel's school held a mock election yesterday and he was a little upset that he voted for John McCain. I think he truly thought he was voting for the elephant. I did have to explain to him that it's our duty to vote and for him to vote for who he thinks is absolutely right to be our Commander in Chief and will be the one that Tom and Ty take direct orders from (from the trickle down). He then asked who I would be voting for and I told him that I would be voting for Barack Obama. He wasn't impressed with me. We had a big discussion that it was his right to vote for whomever he wanted to but if he was old enough I'd cancel his vote out and he'd cancel mine. That's the beauty of the American way.
God Bless America and my choice for living here and being a proud mother and future wife to our nations military!

Our first loose tooth
And we did it just like mommy did hers...by planting his face on the hard floor. It's just loose right now but I'm sure we'll wiggle it enough to have the tooth fairy show up and deposit some money. I kept my old tooth pillow for him but haven't seen it in quite some time. We might need to make a new one. :)

Football games are fun!
Drexel had a make up game on Wednesday night and I didn't get a picture of his best buddy Max, but I did remember to get a few pictures of him. He's so darling in his little uniform and pads.
He loves the game...well sort of. He has a good time. We make him play because he needs to learn to work a little harder and have some boy time. As a single mom we don't have a lot of one on one tackle time. I'm not a good tackler or dummy for that matter. So here's Drexel in action. His number is 61...you can't really see it from pictures but I'll try and help you out.
Here's one with the helmet on!
This one above is for the Banister family...that's Mason there...He's coaching his little guy's team. Drexel is there on the ground with his guy.

Did I mention we play football??
Since I can never remember to take pictures when I have the camera with me. I'm a moron. So tonight we have a make up game and I'm hoping to remember the camera. It seems our house gobbles things right up. We have, since the beginning of the school year, lost a library book, our new DS, and our football cleats. I have found the football cleats....let's see if I can find the rest.
Off to clean the kitchen! Pictures tonight I promise!

I'm 6!!

Wow. Drexel turned 6 on Sunday. Wow. I can't believe it! Wow! We have been very busy and things are a little crazy but we're muddling through. For Drexel's birthday we baked a cake - OK Aunt Janell did - took cupcakes that once again Aunt Janell baked for us. Tom called to wish Drexel a Happy Birthday and then we had a football game and went to the Crossroads St. Jude Concert of Hope which is where David took these great pictures. We love live music. The funny part was that the country music was too loud, but the rock music he was bobbing his head to! Ha! It's difficult to be a 6 year old and the new world of kindergarten and a lot of things going on in the little guys world. His Grandma had her tumor removed, Mommy was gone to Iowa, so Drexel has been shipped all over the place but he's doing well. He adjusts and yay for Jennifer! She's the best weeklong baby sitter ever!
Anyway - we're six now and all is well. We're sleeping in our own bed every night without question. We read our books and play our new DS and are waiting to find the Wii.
